The Sukoyaka Room is in the Childrearing Support Center (chiiki kosodate shien center) on the first floor of the old Sakura City Hall building. The center supports parents by offering advice and counseling, courses, group events, and more. The Sukoyaka Room is equipped with a large play area for kids, toys and games, and other facilities for children.

Who uses the Sukoyaka Room?

Every day around 30 to 40 people come to the Sukoyaka Room. Children of all ages (before entering elementary school) are welcome, but there are many children around one year old. There are also facilities for breastfeeding and changing diapers, so it is very convenient for parents to bring their young infants along with their slightly older siblings.

How can we use the Sukoyaka Room?

There is no reservation or application system. Just come, write your name, and start playing!

Is it heated?

We have floor heating, so in the winter your child can come in regular socks (rather than tights) and then take the socks off and play barefoot.

What kinds of toys are there?

We provide lots of store-bought toys and hand made toys and they are all popular with the kids.

What does sukoyaka mean?

Sukoyaka means "healthy".

A Word from the Sukoyaka Staff...

We hope that people can come to the Sukoyaka Room as if they were going home for a visit with their family. We have a great environment of staff and parents, so it is a perfect opportunity for you to relax and even ask us for advice if you like. Come and play with us!
