December and January Courses Offered at Hataraku Fujin no Ie (updated Dec.5, 2011)

Various courses are being offered at Hataraku Fujin no Ie for people of all ages. 4 courses have been prepared including 2 cooking classes to prepare you for the new year. Come join the classes and learn how to make your own miso (soy paste) or decorative sushi rolls!

Make Your Own Homemade Miso
This is one of the most popular cooking classes which recieves great reviews every time. The contents of "A" and "B" class are exactly the same so please sign up for the class that suits your time.

Homemade Miso Making

  • Date: December 18 or February 3
  • Time: (A) 9:30-12:30 (B) 13:30-16:30
  • Instructor: Mr. Akiba
  • # of Seats: 20 people / class (Class offered to people who reside or work in Tsukuba)
  • Course fee: 300yen
  • Fee for ingredients: 4,200yen




Make Decorative Sushi Rolls
This cooking class is taught by a wife of a sushi chef. Celebrate the New Year in January, Setsubun in February and ''Girl's Day" in March with decorative sushi rolls.

Decorative Makizushi

  • Date: December 19, January 30, February 27
  • Time: 10:00-13:00
  • Instructor: Ms. Seki (Decorative Sushi Roll Meister Instructor)
  • # of Seats: 12 people (Class offered to people who reside or work in Tsukuba)
  • Course fee: 900yen (for 3 classes)
  • Fee for ingredients: 4,500yen (for 3 classes)



Omiya Bonsai Museum Bus Tour
Come and join a bus tour to see real bonsai at Omiya Bonsai Museum. A bonsai specialist will accompany the tour so you can enjoy and appreciate the true beauty of Japanese bonsai.

The Fascination of German Shoemaking
The instructor will talk about her training in Germany to become the first certified shoemaker in the prefecture. She will also give tips on how to maintain good health through correct shoe fitting.

German Shoemaking

  • Time: 10:00-11:30
  • Instructor: Ms. Sudo
  • # of Seats: 30 people (Class offered to people who reside or work in Tsukuba)
  • Course fee: Free
  • Day-care provided: 5 chilren (3-month-old ~ below elementary school)
  • Pre-registration required
