Unten daiko (運転代行), or just daiko, is a special kind of taxi service that involves a taxi with two drivers. One of the drivers will drive your car with you in the passenger seat to your destination. The other driver will follow behind in another car to pick up the first driver upon reaching your destination. The fare is paid when you reach your destination.
Restaurants often have agreements with designated companies to provide Unten-daiko services for their customers. Ask the restaurant to call one for you. On busy nights, be prepared to wait up to an hour for them to arrive. Ask the company to give you an estimate of how long you will have to wait. Once the drivers arrive, be sure to get a price estimate.
