This page will help you get to Tsukuba (specifically Tsukuba Station or Tsukuba Bus Terminal, also known as "Tsukuba Center"). All fares are one way. If you wish to have your luggage sent to your apartment/hotel, there are several forwarding agencies at the airport, with many outlets near the arrival gate. In addition, some airlines provide free baggage pickup and delivery.
Take a Kanto Tetsudo Bus from any of these stations to Tsukuba Center. Note that the frequency of buses varies according to the station and the time.
Take the Joban line from Mito to Tsuchiura, Arakawa Oki, or Hitachi no Ushiku. Take a Kanto Tetsudo Bus from one of those stations to Tsukuba Center.
Take the TM Liner from Mito to Tsukuba Center.
Take the Joban line from Ueno to Tsuchiura, Arakawa Oki, or Hitachi no Ushiku. Take a Kanto Tetsudo Bus from one of those stations to Tsukuba Center.
Take Joban Express bus from the Yaesu South exit of Tokyo Station to Tsukuba Center.
Take Tsukuba Express from Akihabara to Tsukuba.
Take the Tsukuba-Narita Airport Bus from Narita Airport to Tsukuba Center.
Take the Narita Express train from Narita Airport to Tokyo Station. Then take the Joban Express bus from Tokyo Station to Tsukuba Center.
Take the Keisei Skyliner from Narita Airport to Nippori. Take the Joban line from Nippori to Tsuchiura, Arakawa Oki, or Hitachi no Ushiku. Take a Kanto Tetsudo (Kantetsu) bus from one of those stations to Tsukuba Center.
Take the bus from Narita Airport to Narita Station. Take the JR Narita Line from Narita Station to Abiko. Take the JR Joban line from Abiko Station to Tsuchiura, Arakawa Oki, or Hitachi no Ushiku. Take a Kanto Tetsudo (Kantetsu) bus from one of those stations to Tsukuba Center.
The airport is about 40km from Tsukuba, so you can take a taxi, but it will be expensive.
Take the Tsukuba-Haneda Airport Bus from Narita Airport to Tsukuba Center.
Take the Tokyo Monorail from Haneda airport to Hamamatsu-cho. Take the JR Yamanote Line from Hamamatsu-cho to Ueno. Take the JR Joban Line from Ueno to Tsuchiura/Arakawa-oki/Hitachinoushiku. Take a Kanto Tetsudo bus from one of those stations to Tsukuba Center.
Take the Tokyo Monorail from Haneda airport to Hamamatsu-cho. Take the JR Yamanote Line from Hamamatsu-cho to Tokyo Station. Take the Express bus from Tokyo Station to Tsukuba Center
The airport is about 60km from Tsukuba, so you can take a taxi, but it will be expensive.
