The Tsukuba Film Commission was established to serve as a liaison between film production companies and local government, businesses, and residents. The office offers assistance with filming locations, government procedures and permits, information on lodging/boarding facilities, as well as other local information, and cooperation from the community.
Tsukuba's location as a suburb of Tokyo, its rich natural resources symbolized by Mt. Tsukuba, and its role as a promoter of change (as the center of government research in Japan), has endowed the the city with a tremendous variety of production locales. Featuring Tsukuba on film and in media will provide a tremendous boost to the City's name recognition throughout the country, and will play an important part in the multiplying effect on the local economy provided by hosting a film production crew.
Do you have any suggestions for on-location sites (for film, TV, commercials)? The Tsukuba Film Commission welcomes the participation of private companies and groups who would like to offer their facilities for consideration in any future filming projects coming to Tsukuba.
The Tsukuba Film Commission is also offering to provide production cast extras, if such a request is tendered by a film/TV production here in Tsukuba. Residents (including clubs, dance groups, acting troupes, etc.) who would like to register themselves in the Film Commission's registry are welcome to send in an application.
